WHY A LEDGER?

Markets generate an endless stream of information. Most of it fades quickly.

Prices fluctuate, explanations change, and strategies rise and fall with each cycle. Yet beneath that motion, certain observations prove durable. They reappear across time, often under different narratives, but their underlying lessons remain largely unchanged.

Over the years, such observations accumulate and often compound.

MAVENSMOOR was founded on the belief that disciplined investing begins with such principles. These lessons are learned slowly through experience and remembered best when written down.

Overtime, these observations formed the intellectual foundation upon which the firm was built. Some shaped how MAVENSMOOR would operate. Others informed how it would invest. None were developed in theory. Each was confirmed repeatedly in practice across different markets and different cycles.

The purpose of this ledger is simply to preserve such lessons and, from time to time, share them, so that experience is not easily forgotten.

It will also record entries relating to the firm itself: milestones, structural decisions, or developments that form part of MAVENSMOOR’s permanent record.

In this way the ledger serves two purposes: a record of enduring observations, and an account of the firm’s own history as it unfolds.

Both deserve a place in the ledger.

Markets evolve. Human behavior rarely does.

Only durable entries earn a place in this ledger.
