SHARING THE CROP

Some hold land but do not work it.
Others can work the land but do not hold it.
Alone, neither produces.
Together, the land may yield.

In a crop share, what is grown is shared between land and labor.
Land and labor are bound to the same outcome.
If the field produces nothing, nothing is shared.
If it yields, it is shared.

Some years yield little.
Others yield more.

Nothing is available before the harvest.
What is gathered is only what exists.

There is no claim on effort.
Only on what the land yields after it has been worked.

There is no charge for the work. Only what is produced is shared.
